Hawks baseball shows versatility
RED OAK - The Hawks played their final scrimmages in a double header against The Colony and Duncanville on Friday, Feb. 18 in Duncanville. In the first game, the Hawks played The Colony who had just beaten Duncanville and looked full of confidence. However, it would be the Hawks that scored first, taking a 1-0 lead.
The Colony would come back on a two run shot over the left field wall taking a 2-1 lead.
The Hawks then went small ball and found grass just over the infield and with runners on first and second the Hawks Dillon Morales laid down a perfect bunt down the third base line to load the bases.
From there the Hawks were able to score three runs in the inning and went on to win 4-2.
The Hawks then turned around and played Duncanville in the second game. In the second game, the Hawks went yard quick.
With one on, Dillon Cartwright hit a shot over the center field wall giving the Hawks a quick 2-0 lead. The Hawks would score twice more in the inning going up 4-0.
The Hawks were dialed in on the D’Ville pitcher and hit a couple more out to the wall during the game and went on to win 6-1.
The Hawks season opener was held on February 22 at the Ball Park in Arlington against Keller.
