ROHS baseball gets underway
RED OAK - Winter seemed to have disappeared at the right time as the Red Oak High School baseball season got underway.
The Hawks hosted the Cedar Hill Longhorns in a couple of scrimmage games on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Buddy Groom field.
Considering what the weather had been like leading up the scrimmages, the field was in good condition and the grass was starting to turn green. Although no official score was kept one plate umpire did call balls and strikes to give the pitchers and hitters game like experience.
The scrimmage allowed Head Coach Heath Autrey to play numerous players in different positions and allow his pitching staff to get some game experience.
There are several new faces on the varsity team this year and they will only get better as the season goes on. This season the Hawks will get to play a game against Keller at the Ball Park in Arlington.
