RED OAK - The Hawks hosted the Mesquite Poteet Pirates on Tuesday, Nov. 30 in a 15-4A district match up.

The Hawks fell behind by a few points early on and played catch up most of the game and not because Poteet was better, the Hawks just couldn’t get early shots to fall.

At least a half dozen shots rattled inside the rim before bouncing back during the game.

Both teams played an aggressive press and quick paced game and both teams went to the free throw line early in both halves.

By halftime, the Hawks were trailing 31-34.

All in all it was a good match up for both teams and the Hawks were always close in this game.

Finally late in the fourth period the Hawks fought back and tied the game thanks to some nice baskets by Brandon Hebert (#34) and the Hawks had a chance to take the lead, but missed a 3-pointer.

The final minutes came down to free throws and stops, but the Pirates went on to win by 3 beating the Hawks 45-48 in a very close game.

In the JV game, the Hawks were building their lead into the third period and by the fourth were in full control of the game and cruised to a 62-38 win.
