FERRIS - She can flip through the air, do difficult skills on a four-inch wide beam, sprint down a runway to flip off a vault and perform a near perfect routine on floor. All this while staying focused and maintaining complete body control. This describes Lindsey Moffitt from Ferris.

This nine year-old athlete is the daughter of Mike and Malea Moffitt, long time residents of Ferris.

Lindsey trains at Trevino’s Gymnastics School, located off I-35 in Lancaster. She is dedicated and committed to the sport; as she trains 20+ hours per week.

Although practices are long and strenuous, she keeps her grades up, and maintains her status on the fourth grade A and A-B honor roll at Ferris Intermediate School.

On Saturday, Nov. 13, Lindsey accomplished her biggest feat yet. She place second all-around at the Level 5 North State Championships held at WOGA in Frisco. It was a tight race as Lindsey’s all-around score was a 37.85, barely missing first place by .05 of a point. This qualified her to compete at the Level 5 State Meet in Houston on Sunday, Dec. 12.

"Lindsey is a very dedicated and hardworking athlete who loves to excel in everything she does. She’s an over achiever in many areas, an exceptional student in school and a fierce competitor. Most importantly, she shows exceptional sportsmanship, with a fierce competitive edge as well," said owner and head coach Rich Trevino and his wife Marilyn.

"We expect to see high level gymnastics from her in the future. She should have an outstanding opportunity for a full gymnastics scholarship career, as well as international competition if she so chooses. She is an all around outstanding athlete, and we expect to see great results at the state meet. Don’t forget her name, Lindsey Moffitt!"
