They will play Crandall High School on Friday, Nov. 5 at Crandall Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

FERRIS - The Ferris Yellow Jackets used an aggressive defense to shut down the Kaufman Lions Friday night on Senior Night in front of a good turnout of vocal Ferris fans.

The win secured at least a co-championship for the Jackets. If Ferris wins Friday night at Crandall they will be the undefeated District 13 AAA Champion.

During the first quarter both teams seemed to be jabbing at each other like a couple of boxers feeling each other out.

In the second quarter running back Robert Grady got the Jackets on the board first with a four yard touchdown run. Kicker Gilberto Ojeda was good on the extra point giving Ferris a 7-0 lead.

Shortly after receiving the kickoff the Lions quarterback York, hit receiver Posigian with a perfect pass for an 80 yd touchdown to get the score tied at 7-7.

With just under a minute left in the second quarter, Jackets quarterback Ryan Kidwill hit Grady with a 19 yd touchdown pass. Ojeda good again with the kick to give the Jackets a 14-7 halftime lead.

In the third quarter both teams threw more jabs at each other until Jackets’ Grady broke loose for a 37 yd touchdown run. Ojeda good with the kick to put Ferris up 21-7.

With three minutes left in the third period, Lions’ running back Reed raced 45 yds for the TD to tighten the score at 21-14.

With under 2:00 minutes in the third quarter, Jackets running back Shaka Collins landed the haymaker when he exploded through the line for a 58 yard touchdown run.

Ojeda was good with the extra point kick and the Jackets ended the third quarter leading 28-14.

With three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Jackets’ Collins scored again on a 6 yd run.

Ojeda missed his only kick for the extra point as Ferris led 34-14.

Ojeda made a 23 yard field goal just before the game ended as Ferris won 37-14.

"I was very pleased with our defense...Kaufman could NOT run the ball on our guys. Inside backers Adam Jones and Montana James were outstanding along with defensive linemen Roy Chaney, Kyle Luttrell and Martin Delgado. Robert Grady had great plays on both offense and defense. Shaka Collins led all rushers with 18 for 164 yds and two touchdowns. Grady was 18 for 111 yds with one touchdown rushing and one touchdown receiving," said Head Coach Randy Barnes.

"Quarterback Ryan Kidwill had 16 rushes for 100 yds and was two of three passing for 53 yds and one touchdown. Three 100 yd rushers is awesome. Again the offensive line did a great job. We have unfinished business. We have reached two of the three goals we set: 1. Make the playoffs: Done; 2. Win the 13 AAA title: Done; 3. Undefeated 13 AAA Champions: ??"

Next Game: Last game of regular season at Crandall. Go Jackets!
