Lancaster ISD appoints district Chief of Police

Lancaster - Lancaster Independent School District announces the appointment of Keith Wilkerson, Sr. as the district’s Chief of Police.

"Chief Wilkerson is highly qualified with a career in law enforcement spanning 15 years," stated Dr. McFarland in a recent board meeting.

"He brings to the position the professional leadership and knowledge this district needs to serve the students and staff in this community."

Chief Wilkerson started his law enforcement career with the city of Italy as a patrolman and continued his career as a Dallas County Constable and patrolman for the city of Red Oak.

Wilkerson is a Persian Gulf War Veteran who began his law enforcement career with Lanc-aster ISD in 2002, and was named Lieutenant in 2005, and acting Chief in 2008.

He is a state-certified Master Peace Officer, police instructor and a graduate of the Leadership Command College (LEMIT) who shared this moment with family and friends who attended the school board meeting.

"I am honored to be appointed as Chief," Wilkerson stated; "It was a long time coming." Chief Wilkerson believes, "There is nothing more important than protecting our children."

Wilkerson served six years in the US Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Reeves CG 24 and held a top secret clearance.

While stationed in Silverdale, WA, Wilkerson was in charge of North American communications for the Navy.

He is surface warfare qualified and honorably served as a Petty Officer until August of 1994.

Wilkerson holds a Masters of Business Administration from Amberton University and plans to develop district programs to enrich student involvement in LISD.
