Hawks defeat the Lions
RED OAK - After two wins to start the season, the Hawks were looking to go 3-0 and start district play with a win on a sold out Homecoming night.
Homecoming ceremonies took center stage prior to the game, but soon after the action began.
The Ennis Lions started the game with a recovered on-side kick and found the end zone on a nice over the top pass. Their scoring drive took a mere 19 seconds.
However, the Hawks answered right back with a very impressive drive of their own with a key deep pass from Satterwhite (#8) to Harrsion (#3) to set up the Hawks first touchdown.
The Hawks defense showed up after that and allowed the Hawks offense to put up 21 points and silencing the Lions crowd.
The Lions however, started to claw their way back before halftime and blocked a rare Hawk’s punt and returned it for a touchdown and were finally able to put a drive together and tie the game at 21.
The Hawks put together another impressive drive just before halftime to take the lead 28-21. After halftime, the Hawk’s Fredie Cohen (#42) blocked an Ennis punt and scored a Hawks Touchdown to extend their lead.
After that it was all Red Oak.
The Lions struggled to move the ball and the Hawks were able to score again.
The final score was 48-28, but more importantly the Hawks are 1-0 in district play.
The Hawks travel to Mesquite Poteet on Friday, Sept. 17 with kick-off scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
