Alton Newell Adams

RED OAK - Alton Newell Adams, 82, of Red Oak, went to be the Lord Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at his residence with his family beside him.
Alton was born in Ferris on Jan. 5, 1928, the son of Ardis Alford and Jewel Eulola Parker Adams.
Alton was a graduate of Ferris High School in the Class of 1945 and attended North Texas Agricultural College. Alton served 55 years with Ellis County Farm Bureau serving as past president and currently was secretary and treasurer of the the Ellis County Farm Bureau. He was an outstanding farmer of District 4 in 2005 and also received the Texas Farm Bureau Pioneer Award in 2005. He served as a member of the Rockett Water Board for 38 years in which he served as past president. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard, he was past president of the Ferris Lions Club and past president of the Ferris School Board, Alton served as a Deacon at the Bristol Baptist Church.
Alton married his wife Dorothy Moser in March of 1949. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Dorothy Moser Adams of Red Oak; sons, Roger and daughter-in-law Brenda Adams of Waxahachie and Barry Adams of Palmer; daughters, Connie and son-in-law Marshall Sutton of Grand Prairie and Patti and son-in-law Gary Hooker of Red Oak; sisters Ardis Joyce Adams Ehrenberger of Dallas and Juanita Lambert of Maypearl; brother, Julius John Adams of Crandall.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Eric Adams, April Adams, Niki Sutton, Morgan Sutton, Whitney Sutton, Travis Hooker and Janet Hooker Walker, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ardis Alford and Jewel Eulola Parker Adams; and his brothers Chester Adams and George Adams.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Heritage Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Officiating Reverend Jack McDaniel and Reverend Tim Scott. Interment at Ferris Memorial Park North. Pallbearers: Eric Adams, Steve Adams, Michael Ehrenberger, Travis Hooker, Morgan Sutton and Brad Walker. Green Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
