Juanita "Johnnie" McBrannon

FERRIS - Juanita "Johnnie" McBrannon, age 92, of Lexington, NC, formerly of Ferris, Texas, went to her Heavenly home on March 20, 2009. Viewing was held at Green Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 23. Her service was held on March 24, at First United Methodist Church of Ferris at 2 p.m. Juanita was born in Roanoke, Texas, on June 28, 1916, to Roy and Nellie King Marsters. She was a retired bookkeeper of 31 years with National Screen Service in Dallas. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Weldon McBrannon, her parents, two sisters Kathryn and Dorothy, and a granddaughter Andrea.

Surviving are her children Gay Smith and her husband Bob of Lexington, NC, Barbara Bennett and her husband Johnny, Pam Landrum and her husband Ray, Kenneth and his wife Jenny, all of Texas and grandchildren Shelly Roberts and her husband Charlie of Lexington, Todd Wills of San Francisco, John Bennett and his wife Erin, Greg Bennett, Randy McBrannon, and Jeff and Bobby Horneberger and his wife Sarah, all of Texas, great-grandchildren Matthew Hammonds, Rachel Roberts of Lexington, Baylee McBrannon, Tristan Horneberger and Emily Horneberger, and her brother C. B. Marsters, all of Texas.

Additionally, she is survived by Lois Wills, her friend for over 60 years.

Johnnie moved to Lexington, NC, to live with her daughter and son-in-law in September, 2004. Prior to that she lived in the Great State of Texas her entire life. After her husband’s death she was loving cared for while residing at Windsor Court in Lancaster, Texas, by Barbara, Kenneth, and Pam and their spouses. She loved to knit, quilt and craft. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class at FUMC Lexington. At FUMC Ferris among a host of things, she sang in the choir, attended Sunday School, supported the children’s and youth ministries and enjoyed all aspects of church life.
