ENNIS - Mass of Christian burial services for Leda Zapletal, 93 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 in St. John Catholic Church.
Born Sept. 19, 1914, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Pospisil) Patak, she passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Ennis Regional Medical Center.
She attended school in Garrett and Laneview and married Willie Zapletal from Ennis on Nov.12, 1933.
She lived in the Ennis area except from 1924 to 1942 when her family moved to Prague, Okla.
She also lived briefly in Dallas in the early 1930’s.
She was a homemaker while her family farmed until 1958 and she subsequently worked at Donovan-Galvani as a seamstress until her retirement in the early 1980’s.
Preceded in death by her husband; son Henry Zapletal; parents; sister Hattie Raper; two brothers Jerry Patak and Henry Patak and great-grandson Michael Zapletal; she is survived by two sons and their wives Raymond and Pat Zapletal and Fred and Judy Zapletal all of Ennis; daughter-in-law Betty Zapletal of Carthage, Mo.; sisters Mary Grimes of Ennis and Rosie Smith of Dallas; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers: Danny Zapletal, Andrew Zapletal, Blake Zapletal, Clay Zapletal, John Zapletal and Ted Zapletal. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren.
Interment followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
