AVALON - Funeral services for J. L. Langley, 74, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with Brother Grady Cashion officiating.

Born May 11, 1934 in Centerville, the son of John C. and Myrtie (Bush) Langley, he passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his home in Avalon.

Preceded in death by his wife Mary Langley, parents John C. and Myrtie Langley and one great-granddaughter Kailey Matthews; he is survived by two daughters Donna Shifflett and her husband Dennis of Frost and Debbie Langley and Chuck of Tucson, Ariz.; son Donald J. Langley and his wife Tracey of Avalon; brother Melvin Langley of Italy; granddaughter Tabitha Adams and her husband Cody of Waco; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Langley, Dustin Shifflett, Allen Matthews, Cody Adams, Cory Moore and Jake Glenn. Honorary pallbearers were Coy Elliott, Joe Venable, Royce Phillips and Howard Davis.

Interment followed in the Hughes Cemetery under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
