WAXAHACHIE - Funeral services for Samuel Kyle Yother, 21, who was stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 1, 1987 in Waxahachie, the son of Jayson Earl Sr. and Sammie Kay (Kelley) Yother, he passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
At the time of his death he was serving in the United States Army and had just returned from a 15 month tour in Iraq.
During that time, he was honored by numerous awards including: Army Commendation Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, Overseas Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Badge and he received Combat spurs.
Since May 2008 he was assigned to the 15th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
Preceded in death by his father Jayson Yother Sr.; paternal grandfather J.T. Yother Sr. and his maternal grandfather Sam Houston Kelley; he is survived by his mother and stepfather Sammie and Brannon Adkisson; brother Jayson Earl Yother Jr.; sister Kelley Anne Yother all of Corinth; maternal grandmother Patricia Jo McCulloch of Waxahachie; paternal grandmother Jo Rogers of Ennis; special aunt Nessa (Vanessa Bridges) of Waxahachie; other numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including Mark and Jocelyne Eaton and Janson Yother all of Ennis, Larry and Paula Russell of Oklahoma City, Okla., L.B. and Victoria Russell of Oklahoma, Erica (Russell) Sims, Rodney and Norma Montgomery, Storey and Sterling Bridges and Forrest (Pablo) Sims all of Waxahachie.
Interment followed in the Waxahachie City Cemetery under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
