RED OAK - Funeral services for Donald LaVerne Slade, 75 of Red Oak, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 in the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.

Born July 16, 1932 in Keane, Pa., the son of Gerald and Lila Slade, he passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008 at his home.

He was a carpenter by trade and member of the Carpentry Union –Local 429.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Melvin Slade, daughter-in-law Jackie Slade and great-granddaughter Marie Elizabeth Slade; he is survived by wife of 54 years, Nancy Slade; daughters Wanda Floyd and her husband Larry of Red Oak and Donna Gardner and her husband William of Dallas; sons Ronnie Slade and Bobby Slade of Red Oak, Richard Slade and his wife Betsy of Eldred, Pa. and Bruce Slade and his wife Molly of Duke Center, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Dan Slade; and sisters Maxine McFall, Mary Carpenter, Shirley Taylor and Beverly Miller.

Memorials can be made to Lighted Pathways Hospice, P. O. Box 43731, Seven Points, Texas 75143.

Interment followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Ovilla under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
