Allie Lindsley Renfro

Allie Lindsley Renfro, of Waxahachie, passed away at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.
Mr. Renfro is survived by his wife Joanne; his daughter Susan Renfro Hastings of Waxahachie; his sister Mary Frances Prince of Arlington; five grandchildren, Mike White of Waxahachie, King White of Dallas, Tina Hatch of Austin, Shelley Beeson of Dallas and Frank Renfro of Dallas; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased in death by his wife of 60 years Earnestyne Renfro and son Allie Lindsley Renfro, Jr.
Mr. Renfro was born in Wilmer, Texas on June 30, 1922 and graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School in 1940. He began working for the Dallas Morning News in 1934 at the age of 12 and continued to work for the news in various capacities until 1959 when he became a salesman for Maryland Belt and Handbags in Ferris, Texas for the next 10 years.
In 1954 Allie assisted his wife Earnestyne in founding Renfro Nursing Home in Ferris and establishing a second facility in Waxahachie in 1957.
Other than his family Mr. Renfro’s great passion in life was managing the family’s farming and ranching interests in Ellis County. He served as the director of the Commercial State Bank of Palmer and the First National Bank of Lancaster.
A graveside service and interment was held at the family plot in the Ferris Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012. Friends and family are invited to the home at 801 W. Main St., Waxahachie, Texas immediately after the service.
