FERRIS - Dewey Silvers, 79, of Ferris, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at Charlton Methodist Hospital, in Dallas.
Dewey was born in Ore City, Texas on Oct. 7, 1931, the son of the late Will and Evie Hudspeth Silvers.
He was a Korean War Veteran and honorably discharged in May of 1953. He worked as a welder. He was married to Shirley Cochran on Dec. 8, 1961 in Ferris. He was loved by everyone who knew him and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him and knew him.
Dewey is survived by his wife Shirley Cochran Silvers; two daughters Donna and son-in-law Bobby Sadler of Red Oak and Sharla and son-in-law Ed Green of Bristol; two sons Ronald and daughter-in-law Marla Rackley of Ferris and Dewey (Buddy) and daughter-in-law Tammy Silvers of Balch Springs. Dewey is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by daughter Linda Finch and two brothers Allen Silvers and Walter Silvers.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at Bristol Baptist Church, with Reverend Dave Futral officiating. Interment followed at Ferris Memorial Park North. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home.
