Chamber members welcome new DeSoto ISD employees at reception
DESOTO — The DeSoto Chamber of Commerce and partnering businesses welcomed new DeSoto ISD teachers at the annual New Teacher Reception held Thursday, Aug. 12 in the DeSoto High School cafeteria.
The afternoon reception brought together local companies, the chamber and district, to welcome the more than 100 new employees to the DeSoto ISD family of educators.
Greetings were brought from DeSoto Mayor Carl Sherman, Chamber Board President Linda Barnes Rhodes and Superintendent Lloyd Treadwell.
Businesses contributed items for gift bags for every new employee and a plethora of door prizes including free services and donated items.
The district is excited about the 2010-11 school year while also celebrating the excellent progress made in 2009-10.
The DeSoto ISD is a Texas Education Agency Recognized district – the only one in the Best Southwest.
Nine of 12 schools (75 percent) are high performing with three Exemplary schools and six Recognized schools.
The remaining three are just a point or two shy of Recognized! District staff turnover is the lowest in years as district moral and community pride is on the rise!
School started Monday, Aug. 23.
