Lady Hawks volleyball players stay busy

RED OAK - While most students spend the summer relaxing and hanging out with friends, the Lady Hawks high school volleyball players have been hard at work.
Most of the players start their day each morning with an hour and a half conditioning workout at the school.
Many have just ended playing their volleyball club season and others continue to play beach volleyball.
Along with keeping up their volleyball skills they have been busy with fundraisers to help the Junior High and High School volleyball programs.
Already having held one car wash, the Lady Hawks have another scheduled this Saturday, July 17 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Ace Hardware.
The Lady Hawks are also conducting a Future Lady Hawk Volleyball Camp for girls in the 1st through 6th grades.
There are two more sessions left on Sunday afternoons, July 18 and 25 from 2-4 p.m.
The cost for each session is $20.
More information on both of these upcoming events can be found at www.ladyhawksvb .com.
During the last week of July, the Lady Hawks will be participating in team camps.
Reggie Cajayon, Assistant coach for Samford University, will be conducting these camps.
Finally, while most other students still have three weeks of summer left, the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity Lady Hawks volleyball teams start the 2010 season with tryouts beginning on Aug. 2.
With half day scrimmages scheduled for Aug. 6 and 7, the season kicks into gear with the home opener in the new high school gym against defending 3A state champion Lovejoy.
