DESOTO - Amber Terrace Elementary launched a Parent Academy this year! The group, meets twice a month from November to May, to discuss many topics of interest to the school’s parents.

They have had computer skills, business/ entrepreneurship, time management, parenting, and TAKS workshops.

During the latest Amber Terrace Parent Academy, the school brought in Science Coordinator Stephanie Beasley who held a Science Workshop.

"The Science workshop this past Saturday was very awesome and informative.

"As a parent and teacher I learned many new and exciting inexpensive ideas to engage my child and students.

"We did activities that made us think outside the box. I especially enjoyed the hands on activities.

Some of the activities included ‘How’s Your Power of Observation’ (observe and recall information, recall information such what color is on the bottom of the traffic light, name five colors on the Campbell’s soup can).

"I believe the skills that I acquired on this past weekend will be an awesome way to engage the students in my classroom," said parent/teacher Natasha Boone.
