Students earn bucks to be Principal for a Day
DESOTO — DeSoto West Middle School students are RARE – Respectable, Accountable, and Responsible Everywhere and that includes in the cafeteria, halls, classroom and community.
Students caught being RARE this year, as part of the Region X Positive Behavior Support Initiative, earned a RARE buck to be used in the RARE store.
The most coveted item quickly became the "Principal for a Day" item with the high 100 bucks price tag.
Thus far two students have cashed in and learned the ropes, perks and challenges of running West Middle School alongside Principal Kevin Dixon. Adrian Cerpa and Tyjuan Thirdgill, both 6th graders and dressed appropriately, have visited the Instructional Support Center for meetings and a few photo opportunities as well as shadowing Mr. Dixon at the campus.
