Multiple county Career Expo to be held
The Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce and Navarro College have partnered to promote a multi-county event to help enhance workforce knowledge to the next generation of potential employees for Ellis, Freestone, Henderson, Johnson, Kaufman, Leon, Limestone, Navarro and Somerville Counties.
The 2010 Career Expo will be held Wednesday, April 7, in the Special Events Center on the campus of Navarro College in Corsicana.
Two sessions have been planned to help better target specific counties. Session I will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon for schools located in Ellis (excluding Ennis ISD), Henderson, Johnson, Kaufman, Leon and Somervell Counties.
Session II will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Ennis ISD, Freestone, Limestone and Navarro Counties.
This event is targeted toward students in the eighth through 12th grades with the main focus on providing pertinent information on what is required to be successful in today’s workforce. The Navarro College career and technical programs will align with area businesses to present information on what careers are hot in the industry.
In doing so, it will expose area students to in-demand occupations with leading employers and help provide them with a clear understanding of career opportunities on careers that are new to them.
Students will also learn how to select college courses that will help prepare them for their career pathway.
Also during the expo, EMT transport vehicles, police automobiles, John Deere equipment, and other equipment will be on display for the participating students to view.
