Decorating Seminar

"Organize Your Life, One Drawer at a Time", a free decorating seminar, will be held at the DeSoto Public Library on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Tiffany Powell, "Ms. Organization" and owner of Drops of Design (www.dropsofde sign.com) will teach participants to say goodbye to the stress, pressure, and frustration that comes from being disorganized. Ms. Powell will share plans to organize out of control spaces, answer questions about decorating dilemmas, and teach the tricks of decorating on a budget while getting designer results. Call the library’s information desk at 972-230-9661 to register. The library is located at 211 E. Pleasant Run Rd. in the DeSoto Town Center Complex. Free parking is available in a nearby parking garage.

Pre-Party & Jam Session

The pre-party for the Ennis Czech Music Festival begins at 7 p.m. in the clubroom at the Sokol Activity Center at 2622 Hwy 34 in Ennis. Clubroom entrance is located at the back. Ennis Czech Music Festival

Festivities and dancing begin at 2 p.m. with live music by 5 polka bands at the Sokol Activity Center located at 2622 Hwy 34 in Ennis. The admission is only $5 per person, ages 14 and under are free. Girl Scout meeting

On Sunday, Feb. 24, a new Lancaster Girl Scout troop will have their 3rd meeting. This troop is for girls in grades K – 12th. "We have so many fun, fabulous things planned for our girls", says Katina Potts, assistant troop leaders. We not only have fun planned but we will be teaching out girls many things. The girls 6th through 8th grade, the Cadets, are focusing on 2 badges this winter, Finance/Budgeting badge and an Arts and Crafts badge.

The Ovilla Service League is having their annual barbeque to benefit the Ovilla Fire Department. The benefit dinner and auction of Friday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Ovilla Road Baptist Church, 3251 Ovilla Rd. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children 3 to 12 and are available from any Ovilla Service League member, at Ovilla City Hall and from the Ovilla Firefighters. Sims Family Movie Night

Family Movie Tuesday at Sims Library is from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2010, in the Meeting Room. Rated PG, this free feature is voiced by Andy Samberg and Anna Faris. Based on the children’s book, this animated adventure follows a scientist who tries to solve world hunger only to see things go awry as good falls from the sky in abundance. SAGU education volunteers will present "Caring is Sharing" at Sims from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6. Games at Sims Library

For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different game to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 – 4 p.m. and ages 11 – 18 play from 4 – 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.Last Tuesday of each month
