Pre-Party & Jam Session

The pre-party for the Ennis Czech Music Fastival begins at 7 p.m. in the clubroom at the Sokol Activity Center at 2622 Hwy 34 in Ennis. Clubroom entrance is located at the back. Ennis Czech Music Festival

Festivities and dancing begin at 2 p.m. with live music by five polka bands at the Sokol Activity Center located at 2622 Hwy 34 in Ennis. The admission is only $5 per person, ages 14 and under are free. Come out and have a great time while helping preserve Czech music and tradition. Teen Gaming @ the Library

Come to Sims Library and play video games on Wii and Xbox 360 on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 6 – 7 in the library mettings room. Come along or bring a friend to test your skills against other players. All skill levels are welcome. Ages 11 – 18.

Wednesday, Jan. 17

Teen Movie Night

Teen movie Saturday at Sims Library is Jan. 17 from 2:30 – 4:45 in the library meeting room. Disney Pictures brings to the screen the amazing story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, which stunned the heavily favored Soviet squad in the semifinals to advance to the championship game, inspiring the famous question: "Do you believe in miracles?" Hurt Russell starts as Herb Brooks, the team’s coach.

Saturday, Jan. 23

American Girls at Sims Library

Amy Hedtke will present will present an American Girl workshop in the Sims Library meeting room on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Young readers will be introduced to several girls of various ethic and societal backgrounds during different periods of U.S. history. Children will be given an overview of geography, crafts, customs and foods that the characters would have experienced. Any questions, please call 972-937-2671.

Explorer meeting

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Explorers for youth 15-20 are meeting on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone who would like to know more call 972-921-4400.

Fridays

Games at Sims Library

For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different game to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 – 4 p.m. and ages 11 – 18 play from 4 – 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.
