After school centers on education expanding mind, body and soul

DeSoto Independent School District Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE), the free afterschool program started this year with a grant from TEA, is reaching students’ body, mind and soul through the various courses offered across the district.

Ruby Young ACE recently wrapped up their Winter Warm Up community service project by donating more than 325 winter clothing items to the Dallas Life Foundation.

The donation included more than 100 coats and more than 100 pairs of gloves, as well as shirts, hats, sweaters, scarves, socks and more! Thank you Ruby Young ACE for your generosity!

Moates ACE students in grades K-5 have been enjoying tennis and taekwondo this semester.

With a net strung across the gym floor, students have learning the basics of serving, forehand and backhand swings as well as scoring.

In the cafeteria, students learn introductory kicks and arm chops in taekwondo.
