DeSoto Community Garage Sale
The DeSoto Senior Activity Center Community Garage Sale will be on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Senior Activity Center is looking for individuals, groups or associations who would like booth space at the sale. Concessions will be provided by the center so vendors may not sell food items. You may register for booth space at the DeSoto Senior Activity Center, 204 Lion St. It is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Space is limited, so register early! The sale will be held rain or shine with no refunds. For booth pricing information call the activity center at 972-230-5825.
DHS Cheer
Extravaganza Clinic
The DeSoto High School Cheer Boosters present the annual Cheer Extravaganza and Game Performance Program. Girls ages 4-14 are invited to join the DHS cheerleaders at a Cheer Clinic Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m.-noon. Then clinic participants will perform with the DHS cheerleaders at the Friday, Oct. 9 varsity football game at Eagle Stadium. Each participant will also receive a cheer uniform shirt, shorts and socks all for just $65. Pre-registration is required for all participants. This year the Lancaster Outreach Center Hunger Walk will be a part of the Oktoberfest celebrations. The walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Lancaster Heritage Park Gazebo at town square. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the walk begins short after at 1 p.m. Participants have the option of walking a one, two or three mile route. Games at Sims Library
For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different game to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 – 4 p.m. and ages 11 – 18 play from 4 – 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.
