Cedar Hill residents can join in the celebration of the one-year anniversary of the award winning municipal building Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 6 – 8 p.m. Visitors will be able to tour the facility and get a behind-the-scenes look at several departments.
Cake and punch will be served. The government center is located at 285 Uptown Blvd.

DeSoto Community Garage Sale
The DeSoto Senior Activity Center Community Garage Sale will be on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Senior Activity Center is looking for individuals, groups or associations who would like booth space at the sale. Concessions will be provided by the center so vendors may not sell food items. You may register for booth space at the DeSoto Senior Activity Center, 204 Lion St. It is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Space is limited, so register early! Buffalo Creek Memory Ride
The Buffalo Creek Memory Ride will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Buffalo Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care Community, 1329 Brown St. from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Complimentary rolls with coffee will be furnished. Late registration is available. Leaving at 9:30 a.m. for the approximate 200 mile ride. Stops include a lunch stop at The Cotton Gin Café in Crandall. Arrival will be at the Rockett Café between 5 – 6 p.m. for raffle, music and more. Sims Library
For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different game to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 – 4 p.m. and ages 11 – 18 play from 4 – 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.
