DeSoto ISD sees improvement in TEA ratings

DESOTO - The Texas Education Agencys recent rating of schools and districts around the state ranks DeSoto schools positively and improving previous years standing.
A majority of DeSoto schools were listed as academically acceptable, with seven schools in that standing, four campuses earned the recognized rating, including Cockrell Hill, North- side and Moates elementaries and the DeSoto Freshman campus.
The DeSoto Freshman campus rating improved from last years unacceptable rating. Ruby Young earned an Exemplary rating, the highest rating a campus can receive.
"We are excited about our amazing gains and school ratings and are additionally pleased with improvement in most areas. We continue to work to meet increasing standards each year," said Chief Academic Officer Dr. Donna Crenshaw.
"We will continue to provide activities and interventions to ensure that every student and campus excels academically. We are turning up the heat and plan for all schools to be recognized or exemplary next year!"
The TEA rates all Texas schools and districts based on TAKS test scores and other areas.
