Bristols July 4th blowout
Its that time of year again, Bristols Fourth of July Celebration. Bring the whole family, everyone is invited. The festivities will begin at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast sponsored by "The Helping Hands" of Bristol, breakfast will be served until 11 a.m. Parade begins at 10 a.m. Many more events will be going on throughout the day including an Old Timers Softball game beginning at 6 p.m. At dark the "Big Bang" sponsored by the "Bristol Baseball Association and the Bristol Caring Hands" will begin. KCAAP offers large breed dog special for Ferris residents
Thanks to a generous gift from a private foundation, Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project (KCAAP) will provide a help for Ferris residents and their dogs. On Thursday, July 2 the Critter Cruiser will be arriving at the Ferris Animal Shelter at 7 a.m. to pick up large breed (dogs that will mature to over 40 pounds) puppies and dogs to be sterilized and rabies vaccinated for $40 each. This program is limited to 20-25 dogs and Ferris residents only, it is offered on a first come first service basis. You must call for an appointment, mention this grant and provide proof of residency in Ferris. Give your cat the "independence" to be healthy and happy! Free from roaming, breeding, constantly having babies, free from fighting and injury. Kittico and Ferris Animal Services are offering a $12.99 spay or neuter for your cat. Drop off your cat(s) from 6:30 to 8 a.m. (no cats accepted after 8 a.m.) to the Ferris Animal Shelter at 1200 N. The Red Oak Masonic Lodge is now offering American Flags to the citizens of Red Oak. For an annual subscription fee of only $30 per flag (5 for $25 each) the brothers of the Red Oak Masonic Lodge will install a 3x5 American Flag on a steel pole at your location early on the morning of the holiday and then take it down at the close of the day. All funds raised are tax-deductible and go to several Masonic sponsored programs, including the Dallas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Explorers for youth 15-20, are meeting on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Ellis County Sheriffs Office. Anyone who would like to know more please call 972-921-4400.
For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different games to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 to 4 p.m. and ages 11-18 play from 4 to 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.
