Jackson Hole Texas is holding a Kite Flying and Liars Contest on Saturday, May 23. There will be kites for sale at JHT plus a washers and horse shoes, cow pasture pool, chewing tobacco spitting, cowboy poetry contest, dominoes and open mike and campfire concert. Dog behavior class
The Education Committee of the Ellis County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ECSPCA) is offering a dog behavior class, "Why does my do that; and what can I do about it?" on Thursday, May 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Red Oak located at 400 W. Red Oak Rd. This class if for humans only, the instructor will have a dog to demonstrate some training techniques and dog behavior. The class is free, but donations towards the programs of the Education Committee will be accepted. For directions to the church, go to

For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different games to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 to 4 p.m. and ages 11-18 play from 4 to 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.

Paul Blart is a mild-mannered, dutiful father who works as a security guard in a New Jersey mall. He has always wanted to be a cop but has remained stuck in his current job. One day when a gang of organized criminals place the mall under siege and take hostages, Paul remains inside and tries to thwart the group to hilarious results in this comedy.
