The First United Methodist Church will be holding an Easter Sunrise service at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast by the United Methodist Men in the fellowship hall. An Easter Sunday service will follow at 11 a.m.

The Texas Roadmap: Writing a Winning Business Plan

The Navarro College Small Business Development Center will sponsor a session on Writing a Winning Business Plan from 10 a.m. until noon at the Citizen s National Bank Community Room located at 310 N. 9th St. in Midlothian. Cost of the workshop is $20 and is for anyone wishing to start a business or already in business. Pre-registration is required, as seating is limited. The First United Methodist Church of Red Oak will be watching the movie "The Passion of the Christ" in the sanctuary at 4 p.m. and then at 7 p.m. will be holding a Good Friday Tenebrae Service.

Eastridge Baptist Church presents ‘Bow the Knee’

Eastridge Baptist Church will present the dramatic Easter musical, "Bow the Knee," which is set during the last three days of the life of Jesus and is the story of a Roman centurion torn between his allegiance to the Roman empire and his newfound faith in Jesus Christ. This will be a fully costumed pageant presented by a 50+ member adult choir. "Bow the Knee" will be presented on Friday, April 12 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 11 at 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 12 at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Admission is free and childcare will be provided. The First United Methodist Church of Red Oak will be holding an Easter Eggcitement and Family Fun day starting at 10:30 a.m. for an Easter Egg Hunt. Children are to meet in the sanctuary. No charge for events, donations will be accepted.

The First United Methodist Church of Red Oak will be having Easter Sunday starting with Communion Services at 8:30 and 10:50 a.m. and Sunday School for all ages at 9:45 a.m.

There will be a business over coffee from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Red Oak Municipal Center.


Friday afternoons

Games at Sims Library

For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different games to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 to 4 p.m. and ages 11-18 play from 4 to 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.

Kites over Waxahachie

The Buffalo Creek Assisted Living Center and Memory Care Community & Friends of Waxahachie sponsors The First Annual City Wide Kite Festival, Kites over Waxahachie from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be professional kite demonstrations by the American Kite Association and Rainbows 4 Sail Kitemobile. Hamburger or hot dog, chips and cold drink will be available for $5. Proceeds will be donated to the Gingerbread House. FREE parking at Lumpkins Stadium on Indian Drive & Brown St. Kites will be available at the Kitemobile for $5 and up. For more information call Buffalo Creek at 972-937-5999.

Junior teens create candy flower

Junior teens, ages 11-12, are getting into the spirit of Spring by creating candy flowers from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will paint a design on clay pots and create candy flowers to fill them. Join us for this fun and "tasty" project.

Teen Book Club

The Sims Library Teen Book Club is meeting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This month we are discussing "Scorpia" by Anthony Horowitz. We are revisiting Alex Rider in this fifth book of the spy thriller series. Bring your library card to Teen Book Club because next month we will be reading each others favorite books and you will need to check the book out. Be thinking about your favorite book! When we meet in May you will discuss the book you read.

Teen Internet Safety

Community Services officer Wess Winn is talking to Sims Library Teens about Internet Safety from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. A survey commissioned by Cox Communications and NCMEC2 found that 71 percent of teens surveyed reported receiving messages online from someone they dont know. Forty-five percent have been asked for personal information from someone they dont know. Thirty percent have considered meeting someone that theyve only talked to online.Fourteen have actually met a person face-to-face that theyve only spoken to over the Internet. Think your teen is safe? Please bring them to this program.

Teen Movie Saturday at Sims Library is from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Come watch the popular movie based on the first in a series of books by Stephanie Meyer. One time showing only! Come watch it again. This movie is rated pg-13.
