Music Festival

The Czech polka bands of Ennis invite you to the 3rd Annual Ennis Czech Music Festival on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Sokol Activity Center located at 2622 E. Hwy. 34 in Ennis. Only $5 per person, ages 14 and under are free. Dress casual but this would also be a great time to put on your kroj (Czech costume). www.ennisczechmusicfestival.com.

Ferris Youth Soccer Association will start spring season 2009 sign ups on Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and 14 at the downtown pavilion from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for ages 4 to 13 years of age and an instructional team of 3-year-olds (proof of age is required). Any questions call 972-525-6246 or 469-245-7224.

Independence Day Celebration &

Cowboy Gathering

The Texas Independence Day Celebration & Cowboy Gathering will be held three miles north of Maypearl off FM 157. Google: "458 Smith Road Maypearl, Texas 76064." There will be live Texas and Western music, cowboy poetry, chuck wagon cook-off contests, pony rides, petting zoo, vendors, face painting, antiques, music and hiking. $10 at the gate; $10 per campsite.

Rural citizens event potluck supper

There will be a rural citizens event potluck supper, cards and dominoes held in the Midlothian Civic Center on Saturday, Jan. 31. The meal will start at 5:30 p.m., an information session will be held at 6:30 p.m., cards and dominoes will begin at 7 p.m. and we will be cleaning up at 11 p.m. Find out whats going on. Good food, good fellowship, united we stand, divided we fall. The civic center doesnt allow smoking or alcohol inside. You are welcome to bring your card table, cards or dominoes. Red Oak Baseball & Softball sign-ups

Red Oak Baseball & Softball Association will be having sign-ups from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brookshires. They will also be having sign-ups at the junior high from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Late sign-ups will be until Feb. 14 online only. You can sign up online at redoakbaseball.com for a small fee.

Mr. & Ms.

Red Oak Pageant

The Mr. & Mrs. Red Oak Pageant is the largest fundraising event for the Project Success Drug Education Program in our school district. It funds scholarships, supports special projects (ex: "Shattered Dreams" produced by ROHS students) and community drug education forums, to list a few. The pageant will be held at 7 p.m. at the high school. Pre-show events will start at 6 p.m. and the café (pizza, drinks, desserts) will open at 5:45 p.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students, under four and over 60 is free.
