Portion of Mt. Zion Road to be closed

A portion of Mt. Zion Road will be closed for 5 weeks beginning on July 14. Access to local residences and businesses and emergency services access will be provided during this time. Through traffic will need to utilize an alternate route during this time, such as Creek Bend Drive or Oak Tree Lane. A session discussing copyrights and patents will be held from 10 a.m. until noon in the Prosperity Bank conference room at 500 N. IH 35 in Red Oak. The speaker will be Larry Hamilton of the North Texas Small Business Development Technology Assistance Center in Dallas. Fifth Sunday at Sardis Gospel singing

Everyone is invited to participate in one of the oldest gospel singings in Ellis County and enjoy some of the greatest talent ever to sing praises to the Lord. The fun and fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. There will be a break around 7:30 p.m. and will have snacks for everyone. After the break the singing will continue until about 9 p.m. If you can’t make it to the church, remember to listen to KBEC radio at 1390 on your AM dial. They will be broadcasting it live. A session on sales tax will be held from 10 a.m. until noon in the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce at 102 YMCA Drive. Whether you’re already in business or just getting started, this workshop will demystify your sales tax responsibilities. This workshop is free of charge and is presented by Elmer Rogers, who has been employed with the State Comptroller since 2004. He will answer any questions, so bring all of your questions concerning tax rules, updates, forms and procedures. This workshop is sponsored by the Navarro College Small Business Development Center.
