Members of the Southern Pacific Sunbeam Club will gather at the Ennis I-Hop to celebrate the Fourth of July at 11:30 a.m. Everyone who has ever worked for a railroad, all relatives of railroaders and everyone who loves a train are welcome to celebrate with this fun, loving group.

Knit and Crochet Group
The Knit and Crochet Group meeting every Tuesday, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the Fellowship Hall in the First United Methodist Church, located at 101 Redbud in Ferris. Whether you are an experienced knitter or crocheter or just wanting to learn, everyone is welcome to join. There is an active Prayer Shawl Ministry and you can share patterns, advice and fellowship. Fifth Sunday calls for Sardis Gospel Singing
There are five Sundays in June and that means it is time for another great fifth Sunday at Sardis Gospel Singing. Everybody is invited to participate in one of the oldest Gospel singings in Ellis County and enjoy some of the greatest talent ever to sing praises to the Lord. The fun and fellowship begin at 6 p.m., there will be a break at 7:30 p.m. with snacks for everyone and the singing will continue until about 9 p.m. For additional information, call 972-775-1219.

Creative Quilters Guild holds quilt show
The Creative Quilters Guild of Ellis County will be sponsoring the Fifth Annual Quilt Show, "Reaching for the Stars," from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 and $4 for seniors 60 years of age and older. It will be at the Midlothian Conference Center, located at 1 Community Circle in Midlothian. There will be over 100 quilts to be judged, along with vendors, door prizes, a silent auction and more. The Church at Texas holds a free gospel music concert at Jordan’s Crossing arena from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It is located one mile north of Palmer on I-45 service road on Pace Rd.

First Christian Church holds yard sale
The First Christian Church in Palmer will hold its second annual yard sale at 8 a.m. Something for everyone: books, tapes, baby items, etc. Proceeds will be used in the outreach program.

First Christian Church holds Fifth Sunday Singing
The First Christian Church in Palmer will be holding their Fifth Sunday Singing at 10:45 a.m. with lunch after the service. Come join them for worship, singing, food and fellowship. Meat, drinks, etc. will be furnished by the church. Members will bring vegetables, salads and desserts.
