57th Annual Ennis Bluebonnet Trails

There will be a street festival of arts and crafts exhibits, kids’ fun area, bluebonnet souvenirs, free trail maps, food, historic downtown shopping and live music railroad museum. On Friday it will go from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s all free so come and join the fun. The Sunbeam Club holds reunion

The Sunbeam Club has decided to hold their reunion in the fellowship hall of Baylor Baptist Church. This reunion always opens on Friday evening with a hobo stew and cornbread supper, games and a lot of laughter and visitation. On Saturday morning, people are welcome to arrive for morning coffee and more fellowship. A catered Bar-B-Que lunch is enjoyed at noon and is followed by a time of special recognitions and a door prize give-away. Don’t miss this exciting weekend!

Knit and

Crochet Group

The Knit and Crochet Group meeting every Tuesday, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the Fellowship Hall in the First United Methodist Church, located at 101 Redbud in Ferris. Whether you are an experienced knitter or crocheter or just wanting to learn, everyone is welcome to join. There is an active Prayer Shawl Ministry and you can share patterns, advice and fellowship. 2008 Ellis County Relay for Life benefits The American Cancer Society

The 2008 Ellis County Relay for Life began selling raffle tickets March 4. The drawing will take place at the Ellis County Relay at the Maypearl High School. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. Many prizes can be won, including dinner for two at Kozy Kitchen, two tickets to a Stars hockey game, $300 gas card, Acer laptop and much more. The ceremonies for the Ellis County Relay will kick off at 7 p.m. Fun, food and activities will be for all to enjoy.

Methodist Health System holds mobile mammography

Methodist Health System’s mobile mammography van will offer mammograms at Methodist Midlothian Imaging Center. Women age 35 and older with no breast implants or current breast problems are encouraged to be screened. Methodist accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare Part B and Medicaid. Without insurance, the mammogram costs $111.65. Payment is due at the time of service and payable by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard. Appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, call 972-775-7410. Methodist Midlothian Imaging Center is located at 2210 Bryan Place.

Cowboy Church holds Bluegrass Music Show

The Palmer Cowboy Church will hold a Bluegrass Music Show starting at 6:30 p.m. at J-Bar-C, located at 121 East FM 813. The featured bands will be Waco Thompson & Friends, Clear River Bluegrass and The Gatlin Family. The admission is free and donations will be accepted.

First annual Plant Swap to be held

The first annual Plant Swap for the Red Oak/Ovilla/Northern Ellis County will be at Ovilla City Park. Gardeners are invited to bring their extra plants, seeds and rooted cuttings, as well as gardening supplies, tools, art and whatever garden-related items they’d like to trade to another gardener for something new and different. Pancake breakfast

The Red Oak Lions Club is hosting their monthly pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Lions Club building located at 207 W. Red Oak Rd. The breakfast includes all you can eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk or juice for $3 per person. Advance tickets can be purchased from Lions Club members or you can pay at the door. Proceeds to benefit Red Oak Lions charities.

Sims Library holds workshop for teens

Teens, ages 13-18, are making bulletin boards from 4 to 5 p.m. Create your own special bulletin board for your room or for a gift. Snacks are provided.
