Mayor Marcus E. Knight gives ‘State of the City’ address
Lancaster – On Thursday, Jan. 12, Mayor Marcus E. Knight gave his “State of the City” address at the Lancaster Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon.
The speech was a comprehensive review of the last three years of accomplishments in the areas of fiscal management, civic engagement, economic development, infrastructure improvements and more.
The State of the City address focused on highlighting city of Lancaster achievements such as the implementation of technology allowing for online viewing of Lancaster City Council Meetings and expanded Parks and Recreation programs and activities for the citizens of Lancaster.
In addition, the mayor outlined the benefits of marrying the visions of the Lancaster Independent School District and the city of Lancaster through communication and partnership.
“Our growth in development shows that people in business are realizing the strategic advantages of bringing their businesses to Lancaster,” said Knight during his overview of financial and economic development successes.
“The city of Lancaster currently has its lowest interest rates ever, realizing the goals of the hard decisions that were made and positioning the cty to invest more into the community.”
“We have accomplished much and there is still more to be done.
“It is my goal to continue the leadership and sound governance necessary to accomplish our goals.”
