WAXAHACHIE - This past weekend Waxahachie High School band students participated in the Area Band Auditions at Midway High School.
Four students earned a chair in the 2012 Texas All-State Bands.
The following students receiving honors are: Nicholas Lopez (5A) – Clarinet, Alex Meade (4A) – Clarinet, Danielle Phillips (4A) – Bass Clarinet and Corey Simmel (4A) – French Horn.
These students will not only have the distinct honor of performing as “All-Staters,” but also as the Honor Band winner.
The following students are alternates for the Texas All-State Bands: Bridget Reid (4A) – Alto Clarinet, Cynethia Martinez (4A) – Bass Clarinet, Sam Vasquez (4A) – Tenor Saxophone and Kelsey Peyrot (4A) – Percussion.
All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive.
More than 1,500 students are selected through a process which begins with more than 55,000 students from around the state vying for this honor to perform in one of 13 ensembles.
These students are the top 1 percent of all musicians in the state of Texas.
