Fundraiser to benefit toddler
FERRIS – A benefit will be held for 2-year-old Abbigail Marie Land in her fight against Lebers Congenital Amaurious at the downtown Ferris Pavilion on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Land was diagnosed when she was born and the doctors gave her six months to live. So far, her will and determination have defeated the odds.
Lebers attacks the retinal part of the eyes causing blindness and can eventually attack other organs. In Land’s case this disease is attacking her kidneys. As of today, one of her kidneys is in complete failure. At this time in her battle, neither dialysis nor transplants are an option for her.
Her family and friends have located a doctor in Iowa who specializes in Lebers and is willing to meet with Land to access her condition. The doctors also work with the “Project 3000” foundation. This foundation is dedicated to finding the specific gene and cure for Lebers.
The benefit will include a silent auction, cake walk, bounce houses, etc and all the donations collected during the fundraiser will go towards “Project 3000”and medical expenses for Land.
