MIDLOTHIAN - Midlothian High School Senior Andrew Hernandez has been named a 2011-12 Scholar in the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program.

The NHRP was established in 1983 by the College Board to provide national recognition of the exceptional academic achievements of Hispanic high school seniors and identify them for postsecondary institutions.

Hernandez entered the College Board sponsored program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as a high school junior and by identifying himself as Hispanic. To be identified as NHRP Scholars, students must be at least one-quarter Hispanic, have achieved a minimum PSAT/NMSQT/PAA score for their region, and have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
