The Methodist Active Adult Group opened a new year of activity with a salad and dessert luncheon at the Bardwell United Methodist Church in Bardwell.

Jodie Early called everyone into a circle of love at 11:30 a.m. welcoming them to this new MAAG year.

Charles Newman gave the invocation opening this day of fellowship that was hosted by the executive committee.

Following a delightful lunch, Charles entertained everyone with his musical talents at the piano, with his guitar and his gifted voice.

He also gave everyone the opportunity to join in the singing making this a joyful day with many fond memories.

The business meeting that followed was called to order by Jodie Early.

It included election of new officers, installation of these officers and discussing future plans.

The new officers are: Edna Newman, president; Jodie Early, vice president; Darleene Denbow, secretary/reporter; Ardeena Wood, treasurer; Ann Ditto, sunshine chairperson; Rosemary Washburn and Merle Spence, callers; and Ina Dubberly, historian.

These officers were installed by Beverly Jinks who is the MAAG program coordinator.

As each officer was installed, they received a token from Beverly’s gym bag to remind them of their position and to help them do the job well.

The president received a whistle to help her hold the line.

The vice president received a water bottle to help keep things rolling.

A ruler went to the secretary/reporter to help her keep things measured up.

The treasurer received play money to remind her of her financial duties.

The sunshine chairperson received pom poms to help her cheer others on.

The callers were reminded of their duties with a mega phone to help them get the word out.

The historian received a timer to help her keep up with everything going on with this active group.

The next MAAG gathering was held on Wednesday, Oct. 12. At that time the MAAG will gathered at the Bardwell United Methodist Church at 9 a.m. in preparation for a trip to Waco where they enjoyed lunch and visiting museums.

This is just the beginning of a wonderful MAAG year ahead.
