DESOTO - Following a nation-wide search, the DeSoto Economic Development Corporation has hired K. Scott Fleming, CEcD as their new Executive Director.

Since 1995, Fleming has been actively involved in community and economic development in the State of Michigan, attracting companies such as Chrysler and AVL to locate or expand in the 13-county Detroit metropolitan area despite depressed economic conditions there.

Fleming has 20 years of experience in business development, the last three as the CEO of a county-wide economic development organization.

He holds a BS in Business Administration and an MS in Urban Planning from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

“On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I am honored to welcome Scott to the DeSoto Economic Development Corporation,” said Curtistene McCowan, DeSoto Economic Development Corporation Board President.

“His economic development and real estate experience, proven leadership and numerous accomplishments give him an excellent background for leading our organization.

“We look forward to working with Scott and wish him every success in his new role.”

It is the mission of the DeSoto Economic Development Corporation to plan, promote, finance, and create opportunities for the attraction, growth and retention of enterprises that enhance the tax base, quality of life and level of employment for the citizens of DeSoto.

The DEDC Board and Staff work diligently to attract new industrial, commercial and retail businesses to our community.
