MAAG prepare for a new year
Submitted by Darleene Denbow
The excitement is building as the Methodist Active Adult Group, better known as the MAAG, prepare for a new year of 2011-12. This will be their 21st year of fun and fellowship together.
The group has the name Methodist because it was organized in the First United Methodist Church of Ennis. This group is open to and welcomes persons, both men and women, beginning at age 50 from all denominations and races.
They meet on the second Wednesday of each month from September through May and good food is always an important part of their gatherings. Short but interesting trips are also on this year’s agenda.
The executive committee met on Friday, Aug. 26 to begin plans for this coming year. The first monthly meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 in the Fellowship Hall of the Bardwell First United Methodist Church in Bardwell.
This will be a new location for MAAG meetings but it will be an exciting change that folks are looking forward to.
This September meeting is an important one as new officers will be nominated and elected. Plans for the new year will be discussed and other special business will take place. For entertainment, Charles Newman will excite everyone with his wonderful talent.
Attention all seniors who have reached the beautiful age of 50 and enjoy food, fun and fellowship with friends, get that calendar marked and plan to have a great MAAG day on Wednesday, Sept. 14. For more information call 972-878-4069 or 972-646-5229.
