City prepares for 26th Annual Heritage Day
OVILLA - The city of Ovilla will host its 26th Annual Heritage Day festival on Saturday, Sept. 24.
The theme of this year’s parade is “Our Children Are Our Future.”
The celebration will kick off at 9 a.m. with the Heritage Day parade. The one mile parade route will proceed on Ovilla Road (FM 664) from the Ovilla Road Baptist Church to Main Street and then through downtown Ovilla to city hall. Prizes will be offered for entries in the categories of Best Vehicle Wrap, Most Unique, Best Theme Presentation, Most Spirited, and Mayor’s Choice. Grand Marshalls of the parade will be the Eagle Scouts from Ovilla’s Boy Scout troop.
More than 150 vendors and exhibitors have been invited to participate in the Heritage Day sales bazaar.
A wide variety of unique and handmade products as well as food and beverages will be available for purchase. Free parking is provided.
Throughout the day, entertainment will be provided by both, local choirs and talent, as well as nationally recognized entertainers. This year’s featured performer at 10:30 a.m. will be Bill White. White was named 2007 Entertainer of the Year by the Texas International Music Association.
He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage.
Children small and large will enjoy the kids’ entertainment zone featuring pony rides, a petting zoo, jump houses and an obstacle course.
