Glenn Heights City Council unanimously approved a joint resolution between the City of Desoto and Glenn Heights at the Monday, Aug. 1 council meeting.  The same resolution will be presented to the Desoto City Council on Tuesday, Aug. 16.  Mayor Carl Sherman of Desoto addressed the Council and audience explaining that the Best Southwest Mayors are focusing and prioritizing Economic Development in the southern sector with emphasis on increasing the number of jobs.  One requirement that major corporations are looking for is mass transit, which the City of Glenn Heights has as a member city of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).  Mayor Sherman and Mayor Pereira recognize the importance of the two cities working together to promote economic development to create sustainable jobs.  This joint interlocal cooperation agreement promotes the understandings and obligations of both cities and agrees to share in the tax revenue upon attracting a major business to the area.
