WHS band students bring home 45 medals at State Solo and Ensemble contest

The Waxahachie High School band traveled to Austin to participate in the 2011 State Solo and Ensemble contest this past Memorial day weekend. 

The students performed extremely well and were well rewarded for their great efforts. 

Gold Medal Soloists: Victoria Guajardo-flute, Haley Nutt-marimba, Reed White-trumpet, Ryan Popp-trumpet and Logan Bowers-drum set.

Silver Medal Soloists: Ashley Maass-flute, Corey Simmel-French Horn, Tanner Underwood-French Horn, Jeremy Quintana-trumpet, Michala Meyer-xylophone, Sarah Rundgren-flute, Adrian Salvador-xylophone and Efrin Almaguer-trumpet.

Gold Medal Ensembles: Flute Sextet-Victoria Guajardo, Ashley Maass, Allison Hale, Cameron Ingram, Breanna Simpson and Sara Rundgren; Clarinet Quartet-Kelsey Hayes, Nick Lopez, Alex Meade and Danielle Phillips; Saxophone Trio-Wendy Lozano, Kaitlyn O’Brien nad Dani Speigner; Saxophone Quartet-Melinda Louque, Daniel Richardson, Jared Schueler and Caleb Neal; Trumpet Quartet-Reed White, Jeremy Quintana, Stephen Erickson and Ryan Popp; Tuba/Euphonium Quartet-Sam Allelo, Tanner Morehead, Michael Kirton and Max Mills; Percussion Ensemble-Logan Bowers, Marissa Price, Kelsey Peyrot, Taylor Smith, Adrian Salvador, Haley Nutt and Michala Meyer.
