City donates to college campus
DALLAS—City of Hutchins Mayor Artis Johnson made a $6,000 donation to the University of North Texas at Dallas Wednesday, April 6.
Johnson presented a check from the Hutchins Economic Development Commission to UNT Dallas President John Ellis Price.
“The money will go toward scholarships,” said Price. Johnson told Price he was pleased to contribute to the city’s first public, four-year university on behalf of the citizens of Hutchins.
“The Hutchins Economic Development Corporation has a mission to improve the quality of life and character of our community.
“UNT Dallas is an important part of that mission.
“UNT Dallas provides my citizens the opportunity to achieve an affordable and convenient college degree. Quality education is important to the future of my community, and I look forward to working with UNT Dallas to benefit the citizens of Hutchins.”
Price thanked the mayor for the city’s investment in the university’s mission to “grow the economies of the region through a commitment to improved educational achievement in Dallas and the North Texas region.”
