WISD Destination Imagination teams head to state tournament

WAXAHACHIE - On Saturday, March 5, the Waxahachie Independent School District Destination Imagination teams competed against 252 teams from across the Greater Fort Worth Destination Imagination Region for a chance to advance to the state competition in Lubbock, at Texas Tech University on Saturday, April 2.
More than 1,500 students from Mineral Wells, Weatherford, Cross Plains, Fort Worth, Northwest, Maypearl, Red Oak, Cleburne, Wylie/Abilene, Mansfield, Midlothian and several private schools competed in six different challenges in hopes of finishing in first place.
This year, Waxahachie ISD sent 25 teams and 133 students to compete and four Waxahachie ISD teams are advancing to state.
A few "famous firsts" for the WISD DI program are: 25 teams competing at Regionals; two Da Vinci Award winning teams; one Magellan Award winner; one Spirit of DI Award winner; four teams moving on to state; 12 teams "placing" at Regionals; 132 WISD students having the time of their lives being a part of the DI program.
