City fire department receives grant

WILMER - The city of Wilmer’s rural fire department has been awarded a grant from the Texas Forest Service for the amount of $13,200 to purchase rescue equipment.

According to City Secretary Alice Holloway, the fire department is planning on using the grant money to purchase the "Jaws of Life" equipment to better assist in their rescues.

The item is on the Thursday, Jan. 6 council agenda for approval by the council.
