DeSoto ISD earns a record 27 TEA

DESOTO - The Texas Education Agency recently released the list of Gold Performance Acknowledgment recipients and DeSoto Independent School District earned a new record of 27 acknowledgements across the district and ten different campuses.

TEA Gold Performance Acknowledgements are a special recognition of high performance for campuses rated Academically Acceptable or higher. Campuses may be recognized in one or more of 15 categories including attendance, commended or comparable improvement performance in various subjects, participation and scores for college readiness and advanced program participation.

Despite increases in AEIS standards each year, DeSoto ISD campuses continued to earn multiple acknowledgements and have reached higher TEA ratings – including three Exemplary and six Recognized schools.

DeSoto ISD earned the Recognized District rating last year as well!

DeSoto ISD, as a district, received a Gold Performance Acknowledgement for Recommended High School Program / Distinguished Achievement Program graduation rates. DeSoto High School, thus the district, graduated 397 out of 422 students (91.7 percent) through the more rigorous graduate standards.

Congratulations to the schools listed below that earned recognitions this year: Amber Terrace Elementary - Comparable Improvement in Reading, Comparable Improvement in Math, Commended in Math, Commended in Reading, Commended in Science; Cockrell Hill Elementary - Attendance Rate; Moates Elementary - Attendance Rate, Comparable Improvement in Math; Northside Elementary - Attendance Rate, Commended in Math, Commended in Reading, Commended in Science; Ruby Young Elementary - Attendance Rate, Commended in Math, Commended in Writing, Commended in Reading, Commended in Science, Comparable Improvement in Math; Woodridge Elementary - Attendance Rate, Commended in Reading, Commended in Science; East Middle - Comparable Improvement in Reading; McCowan Middle - Attendance Rate, Comparable Improvement in Reading; West Middle - Attendance Rate; and DeSoto High School - Recommended High School Program, Distinguished Achievement Program.
