DESOTO - Hubaldo and Marina Ortiz’s generous donation to Amber Terrace Elementary will help keep the memory of their daughter Kaylinn alive as the school dedicated Kaylinn’s Corner on Tuesday, Nov. 30 in the school’s library.

Kaylinn, who loved to read, died in an automobile accident along with six other extended family members on their way to Mexico for Thanksgiving in 2008.

The section of the library is adorned in pink, her favorite color, and soccer ball chairs and bean bags for students to relax and read.

Kaylinn’s Corner includes a soccer ball sign with pink wings proclaiming her the Amber Terrace Angel. There are also memory posters of Kaylinn created by four of her friends.

The family attended the dedication, along with her classmates and staff, which included several reflections by friends, staff and her family. Her sister Crystal, who now attends McCowan, also attended.
