WAXAHACHIE - The Wax-ahachie Junior Service League recently donated more than $2,500 to the Waxahachie Independent School District.

This year, the WJSL donated $200 to each of the school’s counseling departments to assist students in need.

WJSL also supports Waxa-hachie ISD’s DEAR Day, Education Foundation Golf Tournament and Project Graduation monetarily.

Furthermore, the organization sponsors a Girls State Representative, a Community Service Scholarship and the Stroope Art Scholarship.

In addition to monetary funding, service league members volunteer their time as DEAR Day readers, presenting the Go Van Gogh program and providing tutoring for WISD students.

"We are pleased that we have organizations such as the Waxahachie Junior Service League who support the district the way they do," stated Thomas J. Collins, WISD Superintendent.

"It is imperative that schools have community support and Waxahachie ISD is fortunate to have a community that embraces education."

For more information on donations to the district, contact the Office of Public Relations at 972-923-4631.
