ELLIS COUNTY- Ellis County Commissioners unanimously approved a burn ban for the entire county effective immediately during the commissioner’s court meeting Monday, Aug. 9 by request of Fire Marshal Investigator Jim Pharr.
According Pharr, the Keetch-Byram Drought Index was at 559 on Friday Aug. 6 , with extreme heat over the weekend evaporating much of the moisture received in Friday’s rain.
“Hill and Navarro Counties have adopted burn bans,” said Pharr. “I recommend we adopt a burn ban.”
The burn ban will be in effect for 90 days for all outdoor burning unless the Texas Forest Service or the commissioners decide otherwise.
If your require a list of specific Prohibited Actions or Enforcement Orders relative to the burn ban, contact 972-825-5555.
The 90-day ban does allow welders to work with certain fire safety provisions.
